Fall For A Summer Body
Fall For A Summer Body

It’s October, and so I did the fall ritual of hanging the leafy garlands, putting out the spooky potion bottles, and arranging the animatronic village of vampires, werewolves, and witches. But there was one problem; it’s still 89 degrees here in Southern Louisiana.
I like to think that lighting the cinnamon and clove candles is the ritual that invites in sweater weather. The sign that soon we’ll be cozying up by the firepit, sipping apple cinnamon toddies while the kiddos watch Hocus Pocus on the projector screen
This, my friend, is the very essence of embodiment, where we create the life and ambiance around us to reflect our true desires well before the world around us can catch up. In this case, it’s acting like going outside will require our autumn boots rather than flip-flops.
If we can fake a season, then we can certainly do the same when stepping into the sort of life our future self would be living. Through your daily routines, the foods you eat, how you move your body, and how you exude confidence, you can rapidly speed up your results and live more fully, much the same as creating a cozy, chilly weather atmosphere when it’s still hot enough to fry an egg on the pavement.
This is also a great time to start building your summer body. While you may be thinking you’ll start January 1st, I’m asking you to hear me out.

This is my favorite time to start planning for aesthetic goals. Why? Because this is when people stop getting in the way of their own progress by trying to diet or cardio their way into being beach-body ready overnight.
Instead, they pause, savor their food, and step off the gym hamster wheel. We stop being impatient and slowdown, which is exactly how I like to train people year-round, except many aren’t receptive to what is counter to the fitness industry’s constant push for more.
This is when we can begin embodying a holistic, healthy lifestyle. One that trains smarter with fewer days in the gym, eats to actually fuel and nourish, and knowing that life isn't stacks of “perfect” weeks, rather habits that move with life’s imperfect timing.
It’s also what we call “training periodization”, where we have training phases. For example, in the fall, we take advantage of the extra holiday calories to increase muscle. By January, we’ve rebuilt your metabolism so it’s burning more calories than it was last summer. When spring arrives, we’re increasing steps and already seeing fat loss—putting you well ahead of those who waited until January 1st.
TDLR: Your summer body starts in the fall, not in the stop and go post January 1st.

The Goods
Speaking of acting on things before you’re truly ready, have a listen to the podcast interview I did on The Liberated Mind Podcast.
I sat down with C Michael Pickens to discuss not just my stories of grit and wild adventures, but to go over why putting your health and fitness at the top of your priorities list creates a more liberated life.
We discussed that it’s never too late to start your health and fitness journey, that self-talk can make or break your habit patterns, and how aging doesn’t have to be a scary expensive, and isolating experience.

Your True Grit
By testing out a new Group Training Program before launching it out to the world, I was able to refine how I would run it, lead it, and hold space for those stepping into what is a truly unique experience in the online fitness space.
Phoenix Rising is the result of my own personal evolution in the way I support clients.
1 part strength + functional fitness
1 part sustainable nutrition
2 parts motivation + lifestyle support
The sum of its parts creates a holistic lifestyle coaching experience as I blend fitness strategies together with mindset and behavioral-change strategies usually reserved for life coaching.
I’ve been doing the deep work on myself, through additional certifications, research, and mentorship. This program is the culmination of that work; an experience that goes well beyond reps in the gym or learning macros. It’s a full lifestyle upgrade—one built to last, and to never feel like a second job.
